At Oasis Montessori School, our program is based on Dr. Montessori's belief that the aim of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from selected studies, but rather to cultivate the child's own natural desire to learn.

In our classrooms this objectives is approached by first allowing each individual to experience the excitement of learning rather than being forced and secondly by assisting the child to perfect his or her natural tools for learning so that the child's potential will be maximized for future learning, Our learning environment addresses all your child's developmental needs, the social, emotional, cognitive and physical.

Children participate in group time activities each day fostering a feeling of community and encouraging cooperation. Montessori materials have long-range purpose in addition to their immediate purpose of giving specific information to the child.

Practical Life

For young children there is something about tasks which an adult considers ordinary examples are washing of dishes, dusting and polishing shoes. They are exciting to children because they allow them to imitate adults. Skills learned in this area of the classroom lay the foundation for the rest of the curriculum.

The lessons teach responsibility for oneself, others and the environment. They foster independence and promote the development of a sense of order. Some examples of these activities are scrubbing, spooning and pouring, polishing, grace and courtesy.

Sensorial Exercises

The sensorial materials help children to sharpen their senses by distinguishing, categorizing and to relate new information to what they already know. These lessons form the foundation for mathematical, musical and scientific lessons

Number Work
